Gov. Christine Gregoire at a press conference after the Washington State supreme court ruled 5 to 4 that marriage is between a man and a woman.Not happy with the ruling. Believes that marriage is a religious sacrament that the state has no business in. Didn’t want it to rip the state apart. Believes state more unified than ever before. Believes it will effect fall elections. Prepared remarks than questions from the press. 15 minutes. Before hand interns positioned the flags for the TV cameras.

Wedding Olympia WA July 2006 July 23, 2006
I flew back up to Washington yesterday on short notice to be the second shooter at a wedding a little outside of Olympia in the woods.
I’ve only been the second shooter at a wedding once, at the first wedding I photographed to see if I would be any good at the job, and now doing it again wasn’t the greatest experience, but towards the end of the night there was about twenty minutes of light that was really fun to work with.
The flight to Sea-tac left at 6 am and I was running on about three hours of sleep so I wasn’t having the greatest time shooting the wedding. But when I was editing the photos a little later I was pretty happy with the results.
While shooting the wedding I realized I had head a certain peak in my shooting ability, a peak where I still make some mistakes, but can churn out photos that people like, but I still don’t feel satisfied. The challenge to continously make better pictures just gets more and more addicting.

I’m in the Bay Area right now, but will be returning to Olympia to shoot a wedding on Saturday. I’ll come back down to the Bay Area to photograph in August. Today I woke up early and went and shot the sunrise from above the Golden Gate and around the Exploratorium, which is having its grounds renovated.
